This is not just an NFT, this is history, one that is 66 million years in the making.

“The purpose of life is to give it away” – Pablo Picasso

The Tyrannosaurus rex1 is considered one of the fiercest predators to have ever roamed the planet Earth and for this reason, one cannot be surprised that it was named the “king of the tyrant lizards.” It has always been a thing of wonderment for any human being inhabiting the land where this dinosaur was once the king of kings.

This prehistoric animal lived in North America during the Upper Cretaceous Period (68 to 66 million years ago) which was the last of three periods encompassing the Mesozoic Era.

Measuring approximately 12 meters long, 4 meters tall at the hip and weighing over 5,000 kilograms, this carnivore was built to rule. It fed on whatever prey it could catch, channeling its full muscular force into one bite, “delivering up to six tons of pressure to its hopeless victims2.

The T. rex, as it is colloquially known, has been eternalized through movies like Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park and in museums like the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Its majesty has always been a subject of awe for those who have had the chance to see it in person or through the magical lens of movies.

The land where the T. rex once roared is now ruled by Homo sapiens who are on the verge of entering the realm of the digital, distancing itself from the concrete jungle it built, to reboot its ability for opportunity and imagination by creating new worlds where communication and existence are based on the simplicity of the mathematical language, the binary code.

It is in this new era that the Metarex now lives, and it yearns to dominate as it once did. It will live well beyond its once analog lifespan of 28 years allowing humanity to be captivated by its royal presence and ruling like the king it once was for eternity.

The Metarex journey begins by using state-of-the-art blockchain technology to create Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), linked to a fossilized Tyrannosaurus rex, providing the opportunity for humanity to own this one-of-a-kind asset class, embedded with 66 million years of history.

The Metarex will be unique and immortal in its digital form. We will also help preserve its fossilized analog form by placing it under the care and maintenance of a funded team of scientists and paleontologists (under the custody of a museum) who will have the chance to enable preservation and supply new information and clues as to what once walked the Earth.

As any other digital form which is in continuous evolution, so too will the Metarex evolve. Its NFTs will be the first shape it adopts as it continues its path to becoming absolute in its ethereal form in the metaverse.

This is the story of the Metarex, where past, present, and future blend to create something that will perpetually withstand the waves of time.

The Rationale for Digitization

The Tyrannosaurus rex as an Icon

The Tyrannosaurus rex is the iconic dinosaur. It is the greatest apex predator to have walked the Earth and was its most ferocious hunter. It belongs to the Tyrannosauridae family (which includes fierce members such as the Tarbosaurus bataar, Gorgosaurus libratus, Albertosaurus sarcophagus and the Daspletosaurus torosus) although none of its relatives can compare to the majestic stature and presence of the Tyrannosaurus rex.

While “there are around a thousand different species of dinosaurs known3, only a few of them come to people’s mind when they hear the word dinosaurs. Fewer can be pictured. Only one is known to all, the Tyrannosaurus rex.

It is a predator that allows people’s imagination to vividly flow through books, movies, video
